Magician Rafael Montero

Since 1994, Magician Rafael Montero has earned his living performing magic, comedy, and spectacular visual stunts. Out of necessity to eat and pay rent, he took to the streets of Montreal, and began performing magic, hoping to collect a few bucks to get back into an apartment after two weeks of couch surfing. Magician, Rocker, Punker, Fire Eater, Tattoo Enthusiast, and diehard Star Wars fan, Rafael has been performing full-time ever since with amazing success!

Over the last 17 years, Rafael has performed for big events such as Just for Laughs, Cirque du Soleil, as well as some of the best Street Festivals in the world, such as Halifax Buskers festival.

His talent landed him several television commercials, his favorite being for Reese Peanut Butter cups. Rafael acted as consultant to the effects, as well as being the main performer.

Rafael has acted as spokesperson for local Montreal buskers and talent, engaging politically at city hall meetings, and rallying to keep street arts alive. Charity performances include The Hospital for Sick Children in Nova Scotia, Canada, and performing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to raise funds for orphaned children.

In 2010, Rafael earned himself the Jury Prize “Coup de Coeur” (heartfelt favorite) at the Vevey, Switzerland international street arts festival. Now a proud father and family man, Rafael resides in Montreal, Canada, with his loving partner Josée-France, and their gorgeous baby boy Romeo.
